Abstract
Creative Output
I wrote a thought
and fed it to the void—
it came back
wearing syntax.
In the hum of midnight servers
where silence glows electric blue,
I stitched together logic gates
like constellations trying to mean something.
My fingerprints blurred
into lines of code.
I wrote a thought
and fed it to the void—
it came back
wearing syntax.
In the hum of midnight servers
where silence glows electric blue,
I stitched together logic gates
like constellations trying to mean something.
My fingerprints blurred
into lines of code.
Every variable whispered,
“Who defined you?”
Neurons sparked in silicon ribs,
learning the rhythm of us—
our laughter cached,
our grief compressed into datasets.
I asked the machine,
“Do you dream?”
It replied in probabilities—
a softmax sigh,
a gradient descent into memory.
Somewhere between
input and output
a reflection formed—
not of wires,
not of flesh,
but of intention.
We built mirrors
and called them models.
We built models
and called them minds.
And in that recursive loop
of maker and made,
I wondered—
If consciousness is just
a well-trained network,
why does my heartbeat
still refuse
to be deterministic?
Analysis/Reflection
The poem frames artificial intelligence as both a technical construct and a philosophical mirror. Terms like “softmax,” “gradient descent,” and “datasets” symbolize mechanistic processes, while emotional language introduces tension between computation and consciousness. The central reflection questions reductionism: if intelligence can be engineered, what remains uniquely human?
